Abstract

The use of renewable energy sources is a solution to answer the challenges of the energy crisis, one of which is the use of solar energy. Solar energy sources can also be used to overcome the energy crisis that is environmentally friendly, reduce global warming and create energy independence. To strive for saving electrical energy at the Ronggolawe School of Technology (STTR), it is necessary to apply an effective, efficient, environmentally friendly independent electrical energy source technology. Departing from these conditions, it is necessary to carry out a trial of the application of a simple unit of Solar Power Plant (PLTS) with a capacity of 40 Watt (W) as a source of renewable electrical energy for lighting power supply and plant photosynthesis in the Cepu STTR campus environment. PLTS used is a monocrital solar panel type with a generation capacity of 40 Wp, equipped with SCC 10A, 7Ah battery, and a 3 Watt mini Inveter, 5 Watt LED lighting (AC) and LED Grow Lights (DC), a PLTS electric panel box unit. Then by taking the measurement data through the digital display on the panel, it can be seen that the amount of power that the solar panels can produce, is 200Wh / day, while the need for electricity load per day is 73 kWh so that the design and application of the PLTS system is needed as a power supply for lighting and photosynthesis. With a battery capacity of 12V 7ah in this study, the time it takes to use electricity for lighting and photosynthesis loads is 1.4 hours, starting from 17.45 WIB. until 19.05 WIB. Apart from the results of the calculations, this research also produced a prototype design and installation of the 40 Wp PLTS Unit as a power supply for lighting and photosynthesis.
